The recent COVID-19 pandemic enhances existing inequalities amongst youths, and the access of already marginalized youths to quality education as well as to non-formal education is constantly further limited. The engagement for sustainability and the participation in environmental politics have long been discussed as limited to privileged youth, sensitized by their academic parents and communities, able to afford sustainable products and alternatives, and usually targeted by non-formal environmental education. However, structurally excluding marginalized youths from the discussion and engagement for sustainability is highly problematic, since these current political decisions determine their future as well. The implemented project 'Sustainability For All' aimed therefore to close this gap and to raise awareness on the importance of sustainability as well as to politically empower marginalized youths, to enable them to engage and participate in local, regional, national, and EU politics, determining their future and global climate justice. Combining youth work on sustainability with training in active citizenship, 'Sustainability For All' trained marginalized youths into 'Ambassadors of Change', and by guiding them in developing their own projects and sustainability initiatives, the project furthermore aimed to spark change in many local communities in both EU and Eastern Partnership Countries. In close cooperation with eight partner organizations from Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, North Macedonia, Armenia, Ukraine, and Turkey a youth exchange was conceptualized and implemented to train marginalized youth in sustainability, develop sustainable practices of everyday life suitable to their local and economic circumstances and to politically empower them to be able to actually engage in environmental politics. Therefore, the central aims of the project 'Sustainability For All‘ were: - To teach marginalized youths relevant concepts and theories of sustainability and active citizenship, to inform them about current environmental problems and crises, and to raise general awareness of sustainability -To put this theoretical knowledge participatory into practice, to try and develop sustainable practices for their everyday life, adapted to their respective local and economic circumstances - To train practical and creative skills for a more sustainable life (gardening, producing natural cosmetics/ everyday products, simple techniques to repair and recycle), moreover, methods and strategies to organize and politically participate on the level of local, regional, national, and EU politics -To develop own projects and initiatives on sustainability with support and guidance of experienced youth organizations (Fridays For Future Leipzig) - To empower marginalized youths by imparting theoretical knowledge and practical guidance, as well as with building a European (peer-)network - To enable youths with fewer opportunities to develop intercultural experiences and competencies as well as practice foreign languages with an international youth exchange including seven partner organizations from both EU and Eastern Partnership countries.
