We wanted to carry out this project in order to address one of the main challenges that Europe is facing on recent history: the migration crisis and its resulting stereotypes. As migration issues keep growing, migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers were more and more confronted by discrimination and hate speech with the help of the misleading of media as well during Covid- 19 outbreak. There were powerful voices around the world that were determined to denigrate refugees and turn them into objects of fear and loathing. This was very often the result of narratives and sentiments centred on a phobia of the outsider – based on ethnicity and race, religion, income, language and similar signs of “otherness” This, in and of itself, is divisive and can lead to violence and persecution. By implementing this project, we wanted young people to understand the human rights on the basis of refugees, migrants and asylum seekers and exposed discrimination and hate speech. We wanted them to be able to think critically and improve their arguments against negative stereotypes by combining art and human rights and promote social inclusion. Through this project, we wanted to promote social inclusion of the disadvantaged groups and 48 young people from 6 different countries and raise their awareness about the migrant crisis and show them different examples in order to foster their critical thinking. Besides, we wanted to demonstrate that the fear of the other in the public opinion is often conveyed through media and social networks. The objectives of the project were: • To strengthen the knowledge of 48 young people about the current migration crisis around Europe which was increased due to Covid-19 pandemic and fundamental principles of human rights during 8 days of youth exchange • To capacitate the 48 young people combating hate speech against migrants, refugees and asylum seekers and promoting equal human rights and inclusion during 8 days of youth exchange • To increase the self-esteem of 48 young people from severely disadvantaged backgrounds using various forms of art as an expression of dialogue such as theatre, creative drama, flashmobs etc during 8days of youth exchange
