In the past, youngsters in Europe were typically prejudiced towards living in cities with little contact with the natural environment. To encourage and inspire them to spend more time in the natural countryside of Europe and address topics related to natural conservation, ecology, sustainable development, and environmental protection, efficient methods were sought. Activities were planned to appeal to young people and motivate them to travel to outdoor spaces in Europe, thereby inspiring them to protect such spaces. Using photography as a means, the aim was to give young people a stake in their rural environment and a reason to spend more time outdoors, motivating them to protect the environment in their own countries and across Europe, addressing environmental change and urban area issues such as littering or waste dumping in areas of natural beauty. Photography was considered a powerful tool as it provided youngsters with a sense of accomplishment in taking good photos, facilitated easy sharing, increased visibility of environmental issues, and motivated them to protect their surroundings. By teaching landscape photography skills in the beautiful countryside of the host country, youngsters were given a stake in nature and a strong motivation to preserve it. The specific goals of the Youth Exchange were: • Stimulating the spirit of action in youngsters through creative photography techniques, enhancing their ability to create. • Promoting photography as a tool for environmental protection and as a means to acquire knowledge and skills beneficial for personal and professional development. • Fostering mutual understanding of the environmental situation and culture in the countries of the participants and developing an environmental consciousness. • Campaigning against climate change and environmental degradation. • Encouraging youth to have a greater impact on media regarding nature in their own countries. • Promoting cross-border collaboration in the fight against climate change. With the contributions of experts and through the process of skill acquisition, the aim was to spread the word and inspire others to utilize photography for environmental conservation. Workshops addressed topics such as the importance of nature for everyone, the threats it faces, the need to preserve the environment, and how to utilize various aspects of photography such as composition, lighting, and effects. The intention was to showcase the participants' work and results to the local community at the end of the Youth Exchange and through electronic media for a wider audience. In the past, photography was considered one of the best activities to focus on as it provided participants not only with a reason to explore the countryside but also a means to communicate their enjoyment to others. Photos were often shared on social networking platforms and showcased to friends and family. It was believed that photography could have a deeper and broader impact within the young population and the participants' home countries than other outdoor activities.
