Objectives

This project was especially important for young people from migrant and minority backgrounds, including internally displaced individuals, who needed to express their struggles in adapting to new environments, finding friends, and rebuilding their lives. When these newcomers entered a new place, they often faced prejudices and stereotypes from the local community, which were difficult for young people to handle. They lacked opportunities to express their identities and traditions, and music became an efficient tool for them to do so, helping preserve their culture. War conflicts and poor living conditions had pushed them back, leaving them without hope for a successful future. As individuals with fewer opportunities, they often lacked the chance to develop competencies in music production, such as songwriting, recording, and writing music. Financial constraints further limited their access to music projects, festivals, and events. To address these issues, a group of young people initiated a project focused on cultural exchange among young musicians from different backgrounds, including internally displaced people. The project aimed to create new music that fostered social change. Writing and singing their own songs provided these young people with an excellent opportunity to express their identity and raise awareness of socially important topics. Concerts and live streams were particularly effective, allowing artists to address a larger audience and help social messages take root within the community. The main aim of the project was to develop competencies for the life and professional future of young musicians, enabling them to use their music to raise awareness about socially relevant topics. Objectives included increasing knowledge of traditional music from different countries and territories, developing skills in rhythm, melody, and basic vocal techniques, and improving competencies in songwriting and music production. The project also aimed to stimulate societal engagement and active participation by organizing concerts, increasing awareness of prejudices and stereotypes, and educating young people on using music as a tool for social awareness and engagement.
