Objectives

The project's main objective was to address the increasing risks of hate speech and discriminatory behaviour on social media platforms by leveraging digital tools to foster personal growth among young people and promote fundamental principles like human rights. The focus was on enhancing the ICT competencies of youth workers to successfully implement activities that empower young individuals to combat hate speech and foster a culture of mutual respect and understanding diversity. Through the project, the following outcomes were sought: • Empowering Youth Workers: By developing their ICT competencies, youth workers would gain the necessary skills to effectively utilize digital tools and platforms to engage and empower young people in combating hate speech.
 • Personal Growth of Young People: Through digital initiatives and e-learning platforms, the project aimed to facilitate the personal growth of young individuals, helping them develop a positive online presence and foster responsible digital citizenship.
 • Promoting Human Rights: The project intended to raise awareness of the importance of human rights among youth workers and young people, encouraging them to stand up for these principles both online and offline.
 • Creating Inclusive Online Spaces: By emphasizing mutual respect and understanding diversity, the project sought to create inclusive and safe online spaces where young people can express themselves freely without fear of discrimination or hostility.
 • Capacity Building: Youth workers would gain the capacity to initiate and lead projects that actively combat hate speech and promote tolerance, equality, and empathy in their communities.
 • Encouraging Positive Online Communication: By focusing on effective social media communication, the project aimed to encourage positive and constructive interactions online, reducing the prevalence of hate speech and unfriendly behavior.
 • Sustainable Impact: The development of youth workers' digital competencies would lead to a sustainable impact on their ability to address digital discrimination beyond the project's duration.
Overall, the project aimed to equip youth workers with the tools and knowledge to create a positive and respectful digital environment, where young people can engage in meaningful discussions, share ideas, and collaborate on projects that promote human rights and combat hate speech. By harnessing the potential of digitalization and empowering youth workers and young individuals alike, the project aspired to make a significant contribution towards fostering a more inclusive and tolerant society in the face of the challenges posed by the digital age.
