The project 'Addressing Gender Issues at Youth Work' was undertaken with the aim of increasing the competencies of youth workers to address gender-related concerns in their work with young people. Specifically, the project aimed to target young people with fewer opportunities, who may face geographical, social, and cultural obstacles. The idea for the project was proposed by the youth workers of the applicant organization, Karya Women Association, who expressed a strong interest in participating in an international youth activity that would provide them with an opportunity to develop their competencies through interactions with youth workers from other countries, using different practices, tools, and methods. The objectives of the project were as follows: - To increase the understanding and knowledge of the directly involved participants, i.e., the youth workers, on the terms gender, gender-based mainstreaming, gender equality, gender-based stereotypes, and prejudices. - To work on the development of skills of the youth workers, enabling them to address gender and gender issues at their work with young people, for example, to tackle gender-based stereotypes. - To explore the gender realities across the participating countries with a special focus on exploring the topic of gender-based discrimination, for instance, in the job-seeking process. - To review the practices of involved organizations, with special attention given to ensuring gender equality and gender balance during the activities. - To support sharing of tools, methods, and activities between the participants, thereby increasing the quality of their activities with young people. - To provide space for brainstorming new ideas for local and international activities, including activities that could be implemented with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme. - To share key lessons learned with the representatives of local communities through follow-up activities in the form of interactive presentations. - To encourage the curiosity of other youth workers in gender-related issues through 10 short stories capturing the key lessons learned from the activity, published on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. - To share lessons learned through a ZOOM online event, open to individuals, representatives of youth organizations, and educational institutions. - To increase the knowledge of the participants on the Erasmus+ Programme and support the creation of new partnerships between organizations. The project successfully achieved its objectives and resulted in the development of the competencies of the youth workers involved, as well as the creation of new partnerships between organizations. The lessons learned were shared with representatives of local communities through interactive presentations, as well as through the publication of short stories on social media platforms. Furthermore, the project provided participants with an opportunity to increase their knowledge of the Erasmus+ Programme and its potential benefits for their organizations.
