Through the implementation of this Erasmus+ project centred on youth participation and the decision-making process, our primary objective was to strengthen the engagement of young individuals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working with youth in public discourse and decision-making mechanisms. Despite being an integral facet of a functional democratic society and culture, we identified a prevalent sentiment among young people of being inadequately represented in decision-making processes that directly impact them. Thus, the project was designed to identify some of the reasons for this. Our project sought to investigate the potential necessity for physical spaces within communities to facilitate the personal, cultural, and political growth of young individuals. In pursuit of these aims, a range of activities were conducted, including the development of informational resources and discussions across various domains to fortify youth participation. The insights garnered were then shared with pertinent stakeholders. Within the project framework, our endeavours encompassed a comprehensive survey study, the scrutiny of international sources pertinent to the subject, extensive discussions on the challenges impeding youth participation, organisation of two activity programs designed to initiate novel dialogues on youth engagement, and the formulation of a policy document in alignment with the project's scope. The discourse revolved around active citizenship and participation within civil, economic, social, cultural, and political realms. Our key objectives encompassed the following: - Enhancing the civic, economic, social, cultural, and political involvement of young individuals. - Initiating a revitalized and more inclusive EU Youth Dialogue with a specific focus on youth facing fewer opportunities. - Elevating youth participation in the decision-making process. - Facilitating the exchange of best practices in youth engagement between the EU and Turkey. - Establishing mechanisms conducive to youth participation in dialogue creation and national policy development. - Encouraging the active engagement of underrepresented youth in political spheres, youth organisations, and other non-governmental entities. - Amplifying the influence of policy decisions on young people by means of constructive dialogues and addressing their multifaceted requirements. In essence, this Erasmus+ project aimed to empower young individuals by amplifying their voices in vital decision-making processes, fostering an environment of inclusivity, and reinforcing the symbiotic relationship between youth and policy development.
