The project "One Step Further - Young Global Education Experts" aims to train young people from Frankfurt (Oder) and Slubice to become multipliers who can use a peer-learning approach to communicate the ideas around global learning, sustainable development and fair trade to other young people in the cities. The topic itself is highly topical. Young people face the challenge of confronting a world that has been exploited in the past and continues to be full of environmentally harmful practices, as well as injustices that create global destruction, refugee flows and resource scarcity. With the climate crisis in mind, there has been a greater call from young people in recent years to save their future. Many young people are looking for alternatives and want to become active themselves. At the same time, there are also many young people who are facing great challenges due to structural problems in Germany and Poland as well. In the project we try to reach as many young people as possible together with the young people and at the same time be involved in local actions. For several years, we have been working on the idea of having the two cities certified as the first German-Polish twin city with the title "Fair Trade Town". As a child and youth welfare organisation, we see a need to support the project in the area of youth work. Together with the German and Polish young people, this idea was therefore developed to go one step further and, as a format of youth participation, to enable young people to spread the word about the topic and to get involved in the current debates and developments on the ground.
