Objectives

POMEM project united participants, partner organizations and participating communities for sustainable growth and ensuring equity, prosperity and social inclusion in Europe and beyond through musical performances. The project partnership promoted the solidarity power of music values to empower youth workers in social inclusion of migrants by carrying out concerts and NFE activities to promote social inclusion, intercultural dialogue for more inclusive societies with European Youth Goal perspective.

Background

We applied for this project because we recognized a significant gap in the EU project database regarding initiatives specifically targeting the intersection of migrant choirs and social inclusion. Our project aimed to address several pressing needs identified through our research: - Empowerment in the sense of belonging: By fostering participation in migrant choirs, we aimed to provide individuals with a sense of community and belonging, empowering them within their new cultural contexts. - Education for sustainable development and the promotion of intellectual knowledge: We recognized the potential for music to serve as a vehicle for education and knowledge dissemination, particularly in promoting sustainable development goals and intellectual growth. - Social cohesion through better intercultural and inter-generational dialogue: Through our project activities, we sought to bridge divides and foster understanding between different cultural and generational groups, promoting social cohesion and harmony. Our project aimed to provide practical training and resources for youth workers, musicians, and migrants, integrating innovative methods to promote social inclusion and tolerance through music.
