The main aim of the project was to increase the mental wellbeing of marginalised young people who have been facing more discrimination and exclusion due to Covid-19, other global crises and personal problems, through youth work. The objectives of the project were: -To increase the capacity of youth workers about combining their work with greenskills, sportive activities, healthy nutrition methods and other essentials of mental wellbeing by enabling them to act as role models of healthy lifestyles for young people and collect innovative methods -To raise the participation and involvement of marginalised young people by gracing them with a healthy mindset and showing different opportunities to engage themselves in and increasing their self-esteem to be more aware about themselves -To prepare a guideline about how to work with marginalised groups by using innovative methods on mental health and social inclusion. In this regard, the project focused on increasing the quality and innovation in youth work with a unique, holistic approach to equip youth workers, and directly working with young people in the local levels to empower them and to increase their self-esteem through tailored workshops according to their needs.
We applied for this project to meet the urgent needs of marginalised youth, which has been intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Rapidly changing conditions after Covid-19, increased the level of individualism and social isolation, have created significant challenges for young people, leading to increased discrimination, hate speech and mental health problems. The researchers highlighted the negative impact of these factors on young people's well-being and social participation. Our project aimed to respond to these needs by developing an inclusive intersectional approach to mental health and wellbeing. The project focused on increasing the capacity of youth workers, providing tools to meet emerging needs, and promoting inclusion and equality. It was aimed to intensify local activities after the pandemic, strengthen partnerships, and increase visibility at local and international levels. Ultimately, the project aimed to transform youth work organisations to better meet the needs of marginalised groups in the post-pandemic era in terms of mental wellbeing and inclusion.
