Objectives

The partnership conducted an investigation in the Mayotte local communities involved (Mamoudzou, Mayotte; Diyarbakir, Turkey; Copenhagen, Denmark; Drammen, Norway) using online questionnaires, focus groups with local volunteers, and street or school interviews. The findings of the study were found to be consistent with established statistical evidence. The needs addressed by the youth exchange were to have a deeper understanding of ecology, exchange experience and points of view with young people from other countries, learn more non-formal approaches, open up to other cultures, develop language skills, and increase understanding of adverse environmental practices and use them in everyday life. For organizations, the project aimed to improve the quality of their work by forming alliances, attracting new volunteers, and growing their presence in the community. Communities needed more environmental education on key issues, involvement of locals in beneficial actions, and the exchange of best practices with other areas. The project was named "INSPIRE" to combine appreciation for nature with practical ecology and promote active European citizenship. The aim was for young participants to emphasize the importance of environmental awareness activities in community areas through non-formal education approaches such as Eco-Workshops and Eco-Videos, promoting creativity, and through concrete acts such as greening, planting trees, and other Eco-Actions in the communities of the partners. The outcomes of the project aimed to reduce man's negative effects on the world and improve communication and establish a long-term relationship between the young participants in the project and residents of all involved countries. INSPIRE's goals were to engage 36 young people in environmental issues that affect our society and their societies, promote active European citizenship, emphasize empathy with members of the rural community, and focus on diversity and foster mutual understanding between different young people. The project included 36 group members (28 young people and 8 group leaders) from four different countries and cultures, assisting them in making a number of commitments.
