Objectives

There is no doubt that environmental protection is becoming more and more important these days and humankind must act immediately to eliminate humans' impact on the environment. In our project, we wanted to implement such activities which could help our environment (focusing on greenary and nature) and which could make people be and live greener. The planting of new forests, greenary and trees has a positive effect on the groundwater as well. Nature provide us with many free opportunities for jogging, hiking and mountain biking, sheltered overnight stays, mushroom picking, etc. We are sure that fighting climate changes and increasing the quality of our environment can be achieved only through active education and training. Our project was aimed to encourage young people to become active citizens and change their surroundings for better with the respect for sustainability. Through preparing and implementing the project activities, they were developing their key competencies. Our project idea was inspired by the European Union Youth Strategy 2019 – 2027, The European Green Deal and The European Youth Goals 2019–2027 Our project focused on environmental sustainability. We wanted to make our participants understand that their actions matter a lot. We wanted them to be responsible in decision making and aware of the importance of acting to reduce our negative impact on the environment. On the other hand, we wanted to show them that with a little effort they could make a positive impact on the environment. In this project, we used sustainable means of local transport and reusable, eco-friendly materials. We applied a 3-word-based strategy: engage, connect, and empower. Through this project we engaged young people to be active in social life, to create their surroundings with the respect for sustainability. We made them connect with the other young people in Europe through mobility. Last but not least we empowered them to take an action, to be responsible for their life, surrounding and to make them understand that they create their own future. Our main goals were - To promote equality of all genders - To boost mental health and wellbeing (the project activities were designed in the way to boost mental health and wellbeing, staying in the nature, sports activities were beneficial for all participants) - To contribute to sustainable green Europe (the implementation of the project activities ensured sustainability and more greenery in our communities as we planted fruit trees and bushes) - To broaden intercultural dialogue and strengthen European values with the respect for sustainability and green skills - To develop skills, attitudes and key competencies of young people - To raise awareness about green issues, make young people environmentally conscious - To include young people with fewer opportunities - To create presentations about our organizations, towns, countries and local activities related to the protection of the environment - To make a booklet with simple ways how to act sustainably and green up your life - To plant trees/plants Methods used: role-plays, outdoor activities, simulations, debates, workshops, peer-to-peer learning, presentations, group evaluation, self-evaluation.
