Objectives

"Eco living 4 Healthy Life” aimed to realize a youth exchange that brought 6 different country representatives together to dialogue about local and global ecological issues of the time, share information/knowledge about ways to protect the environment, raise awareness among young people about the importance and complexity of sustainability, create an informative campaign that each participant country could develop and implement in their community, and explore solutions together. The project supported the idea that learning, seeing, discovering, and acting for environmental awareness should be a concern of all and that collective action is needed. The awareness was towards what was done, consumed, what means of transport were used, how much trash was produced, how it was handled, and how much water was used. All of these aspects are often taken for granted, in daily life and in work - but societies leave footprints and have a capacity to influence their environments. There are ways to reduce overconsumption & use, but it can be hard to understand what matters most. The first step in the process is to start with ourselves & share this process with others. That’s why the aim was firstly to create awareness in ourselves and then see broader –especially those who are/strive to be active in civil society and in Erasmus + projects. The project sought to inspire and make space to create videos showing potential improvements, or ideas and making an example of how eco-friendly youth projects could be organized. This exchange raised the awareness of not only the protection of the environment but also the pollution that volunteers – unaware- were causing in their daily work and daily consumption by wasting food, stationary, etc. According to the experience in youth projects, when a project was about ‘environment,’ people were more careful about everything they did on the spot, such as not using plastics, not wasting foods and materials etc. but unfortunately, they were not so careful in other contexts. From our perspectve it is an issue and we believed that with small steps from the execution of this project, a lot could be saved and contributed in promoting Green Erasmus+ initiatives i.e. more projects to be more environmental-friendly in the future. No matter what the subject is, all projects have the potential to show care and diligence. Importantly, the project aimed participants to create visual 'campaing' videos which would be shared with all youth workers and NGOs in their networks, to spread the message in creative means. As a consequence, participant organizations would be inspired towards eco-friendly approaches in upcoming youth projects. The project promoted environmental awareness and active participation of young people based on the principles of non-formal education. They exchanged culturally, but also gained skills in dialogue, how to meet, accept, share their ideas, show an interest in collaboration and communication with young people from other countries. Simultaneously, they would have understood deeper important ecological issues, their influence in daily life, and taken the first steps into becoming a responsible part of life. The following specific objectives were outlined: - To identify and share similarities & differences in practices used in different countries in terms of protecting the environment, - To encourage everyone –especially young volunteers who are active in civil society- to participate actively in environmental protection, eco-activism, - To increase awareness about ‘environmentally friendly youth’ by organizing campaigns and shooting video commercials to share, - To develop a sense of responsibility & possibility of their own influence on the natural environment (create an informative campaign that each participant country could develop and implement in their community), - To offer the opportunity to meet partner groups and develop concrete ideas for future projects focusing on environmental issues, - To encourage youth to involve in critical and creative thinking about alternatives to these global challenges and to feel empowered to take action to face these challenges, - To give young people the opportunity to acquire skills in organizing, networking, team working and to experience project development in a dynamic international work environment, as a preparation to being an active citizen with self-confidence in managing tasks and projects, - To use recycling and reusing techniques in everyday life, - To support young people to increase their knowledge about Erasmus + Program and youth exchange projects in order to develop new projects in the future, - To create professional videos and campaigns by using social media in order to reach as many as people possible for outcomes of our project and for the visibility of Erasmus + Program.
