Objectives

We wanted to lower the barrier-to-entry for young people to conduct cultural projects. Things like playing concerts, holding art exhibitions, making installations, running events, etc. We wanted to make our experience as cultural project managers easily accessible, so that new generations can learn from our experience. We wanted to create a database of venues, exhibition spaces, etc. to break people out of their bubble, by giving them easy access to other spaces and collaborators. We wanted to reduce the time between when a young person has an idea, and executes the project. We also wanted to forge connections between young people in our cities. Both cities contain many passionate young people, and venues for them to work. The context of international collaboration helps young people take their own work more seriously, and strive towards creating higher quality work.

Background

Why did we apply for the project? To build a bridge between the two cultural institutions Frontløberne and Tvibit, so the organizations could learn about each other's workings, and so that the young people who are members of our organizations could gain experience and broaden their horizons through international collaboration. Tvibit drew inspiration from Frontløberne when they opened 20 years ago. Since then, the two organizations have evolved in pretty different directions, while still sharing the mission of supporting young cultural creators. The project aimed to meet the needs of young cultural creators by giving them opportunities to find paid work, to gain experience and build their network through the international trips and workshops, and by creating lasting resources like the publication and the culture-map websites.
