Objectives

Quantum Computers is the revolution that will help us fight Climate Change and boost communication security. It is a global race to achieve quantum supremacy and the EU is lagging behind China and the US. We wanted to motivate upper secondary students to choose a career in Quantum Physics and to use their knowledge to build businesses. This project focused on developing high quality teaching materials in the field of Quantum Physics / Computers that will help teachers prime and motivate their students.

Background

The needs are split into five groups: 1. Students need to get high quality teaching in the field of quantum physics - something that is very hard to get at the moment. They also need to be guided in the STEM direction as a career path. They need to know that quantum physics IS hard but doable, exciting and essential for EU and the world. 2. Physics teachers need quantum physics teaching materials that have been developed, tested and enhanced by the best researchers in the field - ready to implement and easy to get access to. 3. Universities need to recruit the best young minds for their physics educations and to build bridges between schools and universities and between universities on top of it. 4. Startups and established businesses in the field of Quantum Computing need the best minds to develop the computers of tomorrow. The more the merrier. 5. The climate needs us to move faster than we do now. We cannot afford to leave it to politicians - however hard they are working - alone.
