Objectives

When implementing the project, we wanted to achieve that the teachers would also have experience, knowledge and skills to include children with special developmental needs in group activities, to adapt their learning environment and to support the learning process in cooperation with parents. As the teachers' experience, knowledge and skills increase, a learning environment is created in the kindergarten that supports the involvement and learning process of children with special developmental needs.

Background

Päkapikk Kindergarten in Võru has 10 groups, two of which are matching groups and the rest are regular groups. Matching groups take into account the legal principle that one child with special needs takes the place of three children, which means that the groups have a smaller number of children. In practice, it is increasingly possible to see the tendency that there are children in regular groups who need additional support groups and adaptation of the environment. As a result, we saw the need to write a project to expand the finding, experience and skills of teachers in inclusive education, so that all children receive help and support regardless of the group they attend.
