1. The ability of teachers to plan and carry out project learning by integrating different subjects. 2. Science-based understanding of assessment and feedback. 3. Better social skills of students and increased learning motivation. 4. Teachers' ability to use creative teaching methodology.
Kärla Basic School is one of the largest rural primary schools in Saare county, where since the spring of 2022, the number of students has increased by 1/5 in the form of Ukrainian refugees, and the composition of teachers has changed by 75% in recent years due to teachers reaching retirement age. Among them, the number of unqualified pedagogues, including those studying in level and continuing education, has increased significantly. All this has increased the workload of school management in supporting (new) teachers; in shaping and securing the organizational culture. A large part of the responsibility for their own development remains with the teachers themselves. Due to these changes the fulfillment of all previously set goals has not gone as planned. We still consider that the most important is the need and challenge to modernize the learning process according to the modern concept of learning; including making sense of assessment and feedback; implementing project learning and integrated learning, teaching key competencies and socio-emotional skills.
