With the implementation of the project, we aimed to strengthen transnational cooperation, cultural awareness and expression, and the enforcement of the European idea of citizenship among the participants and the wider local community. It was important to create and strengthen a regional, national and international network of cooperation with actors creatively addressing issues related to culture, environment and education. We wanted the learners to come in contact with the values and diverse cultures that make up the mosaic of Europe to foster a sense of solidarity, equip them with intercultural skills and critical thinking.
“A.S.T.O.-Epikoinonoume” is a non profit cultural association. The subjects that we engage with are culture, art, the environment and the problems of our local society. We try promoting volunteering, creativity and helping people evolve themselves. We believe in deep and meaningful communication between human beings so we have small teams debating certain subjects and act accordingly. Through travelling, meeting and co-working with other European citizens we wanted to discover and experience our similarities and common paths while enjoying our diversity. Through this project, we wanted to achieve the development of social and intercultural skills, the cultivation of a sense of solidarity and empathy, and the promotion of active participation of citizens in democratic life. We also aimed at strengthening critical thinking, creating opportunities for social and community participation through formal and non-formal learning activities.
