Objectives

SISERA Greece prioritizes raising public awareness of environmental problems, promoting civic engagement for social cohesion, identifying and solving pressing environmental and social issues scientifically, providing educational opportunities, and strengthening democratic values. Our objectives include utilizing innovative practices, fostering new ideas to empower adults, building collaborative networks locally and internationally, representing the environmental sector, and promoting a holistic approach to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030. By addressing these challenges, SISERA seeks to transform them into organizational priorities. With this project, SISERA aims to equip its members with knowledge and experiences through training opportunities, innovative activities, and collaborations. Climate change education is crucial for raising awareness of global issues and integrating sustainable development goals into adult education. Practical education on climate literacy requires resources, cooperation, and knowledge exchange. With this KA1 project, SISERA's staff is eager to learn, improve, and gain new competences in order to enhance environmental research and support relevant actions.

Background

"Staff Professional Development in Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability” was a short-term Key Action 1 project in Adult Education, running from 01/11/2022 for 18 months. The applicant organization was SISERA Greece (E10264578), with hosting organizations: a) Motivated Learning for Everyone (E10052650), b) Asociación Socioeducativa Eduplus (E10006303), and c) Sherlock Edu UG (E10143856). The scope of the project was to train our SISERA’s staff in environmental issues by attending three different courses and training sessions. SISERA Greece, an NGO, focuses on environmental research and action support. Comprising scientists from various fields and engaging volunteers, we address challenges like raising public awareness on environmental issues and identifying and solving pressing environmental or social problems scientifically. We adopt innovative practices to create opportunities, aiming to empower adults and build collaborative networks with relevant organizations locally and internationally. By prioritizing these challenges, we believe training in climate change education and environmental sustainability offers a solid foundation to disseminate knowledge and experiences in local communities."
