Objectives

With the mobility plan that we have implemented as a school, we aimed to meet the needs that we identified after discussions with our students. Initially, we noticed that they were interested in new technologies and we were interested in imparting knowledge through them. At the same time, we observed that our students showed interest in sharing experiences with other schools, to learn about new cultures and civilisations and teaching methods used by other schools at the same grade level and how they focus on cultivating not only formal skills but also skills such as critical and creative thinking, problem solving and collaboration. Thus, our project moved towards achieving two goals: a) to introduce new teaching methods into the educational process that meet the needs of each student and their own learning style (digital tools, creativity and arts), b) to enhance interculturality through interaction with peers abroad and to strengthen 21st century skills.

Background

The 1st Experimental General Lyceum of Larissa is a historic school that is distinguished for the range of its activities around research, people, society and volunteering. We constantly strive to evolve through European and national programmes that we implement (environment, arts, European identity, democratic life). Furthermore, our school has excellence and creativity clubs. These clubs, depending on their subject matter, enhance the aptitudes and interests of our students. As an Experimental General High School, our teachers constantly strive to train themselves on new teaching methods and tools and to integrate them effectively into the learning reality of the children, motivating them to develop their talents and inclinations. With these criteria we set out to design the project "A school with a strong European identity" which includes mobility actions for the training of our school's teachers in new teaching methods and the group mobility of 20 students to a school of the same level in Portugal to strengthen intercultural identity.
