Our goal was to learn and implement new innovative teaching methods that wouldn’t be limited to sterile knowledge but they would emphasize experiential learning by using elements of cultural heritage and European values. By adopting a more student-centered approach, we wanted to focus on each student’s individual capabilities in order to encourage them to actively participate in the educational process, maximize their potential and help them acquire soft skills that would prepare them for the demanding job market.
In our school, Geniko Lykeio Efkarpias, there are 362 students aged 15 to 18, the majority of whom come from middle to low social class families. Our school aims to provide not only knowledge but also all-round education, different skills and various stimuli to its students, so it belongs to the UNESCO school network, participates in the ASAPnet network symposiums and organizes various programmes. During the current academic year 2022-23, in an effort to improve both the skills of the educators and the education provided to the students, it was the first time that it implemented an Erasmus+ programme titled “New Innovative Practices through the Prism of Culture and European Values”.
