Sustainability keys: We wanted to enable students to make decisions and carry out actions to improve the quality of life in various aspects. One of the needs and challenges of our school was awareness of global issues and sensitization on these issues. Digital classroom: With the digital classroom we wanted to provide education in the use of Information and Communication Technology or ICT and to encourage higher-level thinking and creativity.The creation of a digital classroom is absolutely necessary nowadays. Technology empowers children by making them more engaged and expands their horizons. Language Learning and communication: We learn a language for specific purposes like, to express our feelings, ideas, conveying messages, having conversations on various topics. This objective is linked with the needs and challenges of our school as communication is absolutely necessary part of this action. Citizenship: The goal of citizenship is to prepare children to become members of a democratic society and to define what it means to be a member of a state or a union like European union. This objective is linked with the needs and challenges of our school as the cultivation of citizenship is considered absolutely necessary.
Our school is in northern Greece, in Kavala city, in a green area perfect for the running of a school unit. It is a multipower school unit of secondary education that has incorporation classes for students with learning difficulties. All the students follow their obligatory secondary education and they are prepared for the high school. They are taught Ancient and Modern Greek, History, Maths, Physics, Religion,Chemistry, Biology, English, French, German, Physical Education, Music, Technology, Home Economics, ICT and skills laboratories. We also run every year e-twinning and Erasmus projects, environmental and cultural projects. We work with students who are from 12 to 15 years old. The students come from different economic, social and cultural backgrounds and they have the mood and the motive to strengthen and improve their progress and to take part in innovative actions.We think that all the subjects and all the programs we are running could be combined with the aimes of this Erasmus project as with the impementation of this project we wanted to combine the teaching procedure and methods with environmental education, trying to make our students more active citizens and more sensitive in the protection of the environment.
