New learning and teaching methods and approaches

Objectives

With this project, we had as our main goal the improvement of knowledge and the integration of innovative practices that will increase the participation of students in the teaching process so that they join more constructively, creatively and comprehensively, and inclusively. The geographical location of our school does not give many incentives to staff for personal development, knowledge enhancement and exchange of good practices, so this particular Erasmus mobility helped us a lot in these areas. Our practices in the areas of knowledge retrieval process, assessment and feedback of our students as well as our collaborative actions were very outdated and non-existent. The strengthening of specific skills and the new ideas and good practices received by the staff will be an important start towards the change that our school urgently needs to take the first step towards the extroversion of our organization, in our institutional and strategic development.

Background

Our project is about improving the knowledge and skills of our teachers in the use of student-centers methodology in order to develop a more collaborative and project-based process of education and integrate it into the educational process. The aim is to strengthen the process of knowledge assimilation, creativity and team learning. Our school belongs to primary elementary education with six years of study. It operates an integration department, a Special Education structure whose goal is educational intervention for students with special educational needs. In addition to the implementation of the analytical program, we implement programs of school activities with topics such as environmental, cultural and health education. We regularly carry out educational visits to cultural sites, museums, Environmental Education Centers, and the Hellenic Parliament. We participate in thematic networks such as HELMEPA, UNESCO, ECO SCHOOLS. For the last two years we have been implementing collaborative actions with schools abroad through the e-twinning platform. There is a school library and we have a small folklore museum which is a core of cultural activities.
