Objectives

The objectives of the programme: • improve the relationship between students and teachers in a context of understanding, and mutual respect so that there can be a constructive dialogue and cooperation between them. Teachers need to better understand their student’s needs, deal with crises in conciliatory ways, and find alternative ways to delimit delinquent students. • help teachers acquire knowledge of new technologies and tools in order to be able to upgrade the learning process. Teachers need to incorporate mobile devices in their lesson, use innovative programmes and tools in their lesson plans, increase digital communication with their students and assign homework online.

Background

The experience of the COVID-19 pandemic made us discern some needs of our school. First of all, due to the instability in the way of teaching – in person and online – the relationship between teachers and students, which is based on respect, mutual understanding and cooperation, is no longer the same. Teachers do not seem to understand their students, and students behave indifferently having lost their interest, enthusiasm and motivation. While initially online education made us realize the lack of sufficient digital skills, it helped us at the same time to develop them to a certain extent and thus it opened a new perspective. Achieving the objectives of the project helped participants develop skills and approaches to learning that will enable them to offer more effective learning opportunities. And in this way the idea of “A classroom in my back pocket” becomes a distinct possibility.
