Objectives

The desired goals of Zipari High School through this mobility are to expand the horizons of both teachers and trainees while gaining European experiences, learning and adopting new teaching methods, following the trends in EU education policy and developing participants' language skills. Furthermore, the school aims to develop collaborative methods, to develop skills and abilities, as well as encourage and adopt appropriate attitudes and lifestyles. At the same time, all participants will be given the opportunity to get to know the manners, customs, perceptions and mentalities of other Europeans. Accordingly, it could be argued that teachers of Zipari High school will develop their European identity. Last but not least, due to the knowledge gained by the offered seminars, the school will be able to combat both bullying and all other forms of violence.

Background

While inclusion lies at the top of the EU education agenda, the relevant emphasis and attention has not been paid in Greece. Given that Zipari High School is attended not only by many foreign students, but also students with learning and mobility difficulties, the Teachers' Association of the school has decided to enrich its knowledge in this field by means of this application. There are ten teachers participating in this program, they have all been selected on the basis of their merit and with the additional criterion that they are proficient in at least one foreign language. Furthermore, they are all holders of postgraduate degrees and all have had intercultural education or special education training. In addition, all ten educators are aware of issues of inclusion and determined to achieve the highest educational goals. The desire of our school is to enrich our knowledge on the field of inclusion with the best European knowledge and practices.
