Implementing this specific program, we expect that through the new knowledge and skills our educators will gain, we will shape an inclusive school where all stakeholders (educators, parents, and students) will choose communication and collaboration over conflicts. Through new teaching methods, such as the project-based method and the flipped classroom method, we hope to give students incentives and autonomy in the learning process. We aim for the social and emotional development of our students. Acquiring digital skills by our students is one of the significant goals of our school. The robotics group operating in our school is important for our students, so our training in Scratch software will help familiarize our students with STEAM and technology and prepare them to join the digital era, equip them with 21st-century skills to be protagonists in shaping developments. Finally, we expect our educators to exchange knowledge, skills, and best practices with colleagues from the rest of Europe, as well as prepare the ground for new collaborations.
Our school is a public primary school with 30 teachers and 225 students, who come from different backgrounds (Roma, children of immigrants with poor knowledge of the Greek language, children from families facing economic difficulties). Cultural programs, health education, environmental education, civic education, and inclusion are implemented. Our school faces challenges related to the following areas: Inclusion and conflict avoidance in the school environment, communication among teachers, students, and parents, implementation of new teaching and learning methods, and digital skills. Programs have been selected to help us train in areas corresponding to the above challenges. The specific courses of the Erasmus+ program in which we participated are: a) "21st Century Skills for Teachers and Students," b) "Social, Emotional, and Digital Approach," and c) "STEAM, New Teaching and Learning Methods." We believe that our participation in these programs will help us address the challenges we have mentioned above.
