Nowadays diversity is the cornerstone of the European Community. Taking the problem of the high unemployment rate or lack of opportunities in the Greek labour market into serious consideration, our school is therefore looking for ways to cope with changes in the domestic labour market with the aim of preparing students and teachers as far as is possible for the European labour market. What better way of doing so than through the high-quality training of the teaching staff as well as the students in ecological, digital, technological, democratic and intercultural cooperation. Finally, we believe that the teachers of our school need support and improvement in intercultural, managerial, technical (and also linguistic skills) in order to be able to act as multipliers of such knowledge and to make our school attractive to every student – active citizen, regardless of race, culture or social background.
The 3rd General Lyceum of Trikala Odysseas Elytis is a state secondary school. The subject of the project is: “NO to Climate Change, YES to Systemic Change!” Our goal is to create a safe, ‘green’ and democratic school. We have set three aims, two of which have a dual role– the training of students and teachers in safe digitization, a ‘green’ transition to an alternative school that is ecologically aware, and, mainly, in the use of new methods and educational tools that arise from European Programmes, practices which are geared towards the internationalization of our school, the development and improvement of skills and qualifications, the broadening of knowledge and the sensitization of its members to the need for ongoing lifelong learning. We believe that in this way we will lay the foundations for the New International School which we intend to create, having trained a considerable proportion of the school community and thus having formed an Erasmus team capable of representing it!
