Objectives

This Erasmus program aimed to achieve the three objectives that were formulated in the original application. Specifically, the first goal was to learn and implement new classroom management strategies that are already used in European schools and differ from traditional models. The second goal of the plan was to cultivate social skills in our students, create an orderly climate in the classroom, avoid conflicts and prepare future European citizens. Finally, the program aimed to mentally empower students and teachers by creating positive emotions in those who participate in the educational process. These goals were achieved by training teachers, by disseminating the learning results and above all by applying the knowledge gained in everyday school life.

Background

The 2nd GEL of Edessa aims to provide general education and prepare students for higher education. It is a school in the Greek province that had to deal with the consequences left by the economic crisis initially and later by the pandemic and the social exclusion caused by it. This Erasmus project is the first that our school has planned and implemented in the post-Covid era. The challenges for the entire school community were great and for this reason it was deemed necessary to implement an Erasmus program that would on the one hand provide solutions for better classroom management after the Covid-19 pandemic and on the other hand would help to renew the school by forming more effective teachers and active students. This is precisely the content of our plan, which includes the training of teachers on classroom management and mental empowerment strategies using new teaching methods and modern tools and applications. Within the broader context of the Erasmus project belong also the adoption and implementation of these successful practices and learning outcomes by the entire school community and the further strengthening of its European identity.
