Objectives

By implementing the project "New Challenges, New Roads" we wanted to achieve the professional development of teachers and the acquisition of unprecedented European experience for our newcomer organisation. More specifically, we delved into topics that constitute the components of school well-being, such as enhancing positive psychology, mindfulness and resilience, stress management and preventing professional burnout. The knowledge and skills that we acquired formed new attitudes and behaviors. We also built contacts and became part of a European network. We adopted good practices and implemented innovative training programs. In conclusion, the most important was to transform our school into a "learning" organisation.

Background

The "New Challenges, New Roads" project is the 1st Erasmus+ KA122 project implemented by the 2nd Primary School of Kalamaria. This project is a part of our strategic plan which aims to grow and respond to the challenges of the modern school, where the only constant is constant change! Teachers are increasingly expressing that they feel pressure, professional stress and low job satisfaction. Our response to these challenges has been to apply for Erasmus+ in order to gain new knowledge, skills and experiences. So we conducted a needs assessment, then we recorded and prioritized our needs and finally we implemented this plan to cover: a) training needs in the topics of positive psychology, resilience, prevention of burnout and well-being enhancement b) the need for extroversion through the development of European networks and the strengthening of European identity.
