The aim of the specific program was to create a safe environment in the school, which can prevent and manage pathogenic phenomena such as school bullying. The educational community as well as parents need a supply of training in order to be able to use pedagogical methods in preventive, diagnostic and also therapeutic actions. With this method, phenomena of school bullying and cyber bullying will be dealt with. The aim of the program was also to empower young people to shape a better internet. To move safely in the digital environment, promoting positive values and behaviors. Also to recognize themselves as a proper, active digital citizen, participative and interactive in society. A more general goal was also through the Erasmus+ programs for teachers to grasp the European culture in order to act safely and confidently in the multicultural and diverse European environment, respecting diversity.
Our school's goal was to create a safe learning environment. International surveys have shown that approximately 15% of students have experienced bullying and violence at school by classmates. This percentage is increasing daily, taking on epidemiological dimensions. Research in Greek schools has shown that one in 10 children has been bullied. The psychosocial effects of bullying and violence are many and serious. Our school, considering that prevention is the best way to deal with the phenomenon, decided to train teachers to prevent the phenomenon. A modern form of intra-school violence is also cyber bullying, for this reason the school community considered it necessary to train teachers in digital citizenship, so that the trainees become promoters for teachers and students. Digital citizenship provides adults and children with the opportunity and guidance to learn to use the necessary tools to help them make the digital world an open, creative and inclusive space where people respect each other's rights and their fellows.
