To give our students the opportunity for a quality internship in a foreign company, thus opening their horizons for employment. Businesses in Greece and Europe are asking for the best possible professional skills, due to the increasing competition, the different and diverse models of work, the ever-changing conditions, but also the noticeable reduction of jobs. This also affects the IEP, which has to cope with all these demands and needs of students, being away from working and large urban centers. It is therefore important that students benefit more through an opportunity of short internships abroad as they will receive skills that we cannot provide.
The location of DIEK, Kavala city, is among the cities of rural areas resulting in narrowing the horizons and opportunities of students compared to the large city centers. A good many of our students are people who face fewer opportunities in professional development and job experience, and thus in job opportunities, things that are correlated to their financial state. The greek labor market is increasing its demands on job applicants due to the economical situation and restricted job vacancies. Due to the above, a part of the young has already abandoned or is discouraged from participating in VET education. DIEK Kavalas is one of the few opportunities for acquiring hands-on experience and education, so the young around the area can have good perspectives of employment. As a result, we have to live up to the expectations of the labor market by furnishing our students with adequate competencies.
