With this project we sought to train teachers in environmental education, including the circular economy and the role of emotional intelligence in addressing climate change. In implementing this project our teachers: 1) acquired the theoretical and practical knowledge to be able to integrate activities and games into the teaching process to motivate students to take action on environmental issues; which were then integrated into the school curriculum 2) received the necessary training and acquired the appropriate tools to be able to promote environmental education to their students in order to develop their skills to enable them to face the difficulties of climate change and the sustainability crisis 3) contributed to strengthening the European dimension of our school by participating in a European project.
EPAL PALAMA is the largest school unit of Public Secondary Vocational Education of the Municipality of Palamas (Karditsa District). Our school graduates have the opportunity to pursue university studies, attend other Higher Educational Institutions or pursue a professional career. Our school regularly participates in programmes provided by the Department of Education, with the aim of enhancing the knowledge and experience of its staff and students. One of today's most pressing issues is environmental issues. One of the most appropriate ways to achieve the cultivation of environmental responsibility, awareness and empathy is through schools, which can facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and the development of positive attitudes among students. Considering the important role of teachers and the need to support and educate them on key issues such as the environment, this project was designed to strengthen the scientific and pedagogical background of teachers to help this generation and the next to learn how to deal with the difficulties and crises of sustainability and climate change.
