Objectives

The objectives of HMU are clear and consistent over time: strengthening internationalisation, increasing the attraction of students and academic staff, reinforcing the ATHENA Alliance, developing international study and research programmes, strengthening existing partnerships and creating new ones with recognised institutions, and promoting scientific collaborations and conferences. The International Relations Office, in full alignment with the ECHE, works consistently to provide high-quality services, ensure equal and fair opportunities (e.g., combating xenophobia and racism, enhancing inclusion), support the digital transition, guarantee timely recognition of ECTS, improve teaching methods, and connect these efforts with the overall institutional strategy. Thus, HMU has signed more than 30 bilateral agreements with institutions outside Europe, particularly in strategically important regions such as the Western Balkans, the Eastern Neighbourhood, the Eastern Mediterranean, Africa. This positions HMU as a reference point for academic partnerships, exchange of best practices, and intercultural interaction, especially in key thematic areas such as the internationalisation of ΗΕ,sustainable development agri-food and technology.
