The project aimed to strengthen the collaboration between the Hellenic Open University and the University of Hyderabad. It focused on the exchange of expertise in distance education and applied mathematics (biofluid flows and their applications in biomedical sciences). Its main scientific objective was to explore/ focus on mathematical modelling as a bridge between mathematics and medicine, with a focus on cardiovascular diseases. Through the application of models based on Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), the project analysed blood flow on both microscopic and macroscopic scale, deepening scientific understanding and contributing to the early diagnosis and more effective treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Beyond its scientific objectives, the project sought to enhance the professional/organizational skills of the participants. Emphasis was placed on equal opportunities and inclusion: all participants were women mathematicians, who remain underrepresented in scientific research and academia. Finally, the project aimed to contribute to the internationalization strategies of the partner Institutions, foster innovation in teaching and research, and advance the modernization of study programs.
