As a University with a strong national and international impact, the University of Ioannina encourages the natural mobility of students and staff, international cooperation and multilateral collaborations that strengthen its role as a dominant academic centre in the southern Balkans. The academic community of the University of Ioannina is recognized both nationally and internationally and develops synergies through personal, professional or academic networks, or through more institutionalized channels, e.g. international invitations for projects, or other institutional networking channels. Mobility is encouraged at all levels of education and for all members of the university community, implementing a policy of equal opportunities without discrimination, with a focus on vulnerable groups and minorities. With regard to student mobility, significant measures have been taken both for the mobility of undergraduate and postgraduate students and for the mobility of doctoral candidates, resulting in an increase in outgoing students (organised on the basis of fairness and transparency and a thorough process in accordance with the National Authority's guidelines) and an increase in incoming students despite the language barrier.
