AGILITY was designed to harness digital innovations to strengthen the Vocational Education and Training (VET) of Registered Paediatric Nurses (RPNs).Specifically, AGILITY aimed to: Develop innovative vocational training services tailored to RPNs. Address key challenges associated with remote training and implementing Clinical Pathway Education (CPE). Integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into vocational training for paediatric nurses. Develop comprehensive digital content covering the theoretical foundations of clinical nursing pathways. Design a simulation-based learning module to reinforce the practical application of CPE.
The effective management and treatment of emergency cases remain a persistent challenge for nurses, particularly in paediatric care. Given the unpredictable nature of paediatric emergencies—characterized by rapid clinical deterioration, diverse work patterns, and time-sensitive decision-making—nurses must be adequately trained to respond swiftly and effectively to prevent adverse patient outcomes. However, disparities in access to specialized training create significant barriers to high-quality emergency care, particularly in decentralized and rural areas. Across Europe, healthcare services in rural regions exhibit significant heterogeneity in terms of resources, infrastructure, and training opportunities. However, in countries such Greece and Bulgaria, nurses in rural and decentralized areas often lack opportunities to receive specialized training in paediatric emergencies, limiting their ability to respond effectively to critical cases. A widely recognized solution to addressing inconsistencies in emergency care involves the development of data-driven clinical guidelines, commonly referred to as Clinical Pathways (CPs).
