Objectives

Seven primary schools joined together to help address climate change and environmental damage through education and the "Shatter the grey!" project. Project's main goal was all partner students, without exclusions, through pleasant activities to get to know, love and care for the environment, local and wider, and take action to protect and preserve it contributing to our planet´s overall sustainability. At the same time, working together in teams, students would come closer and enhance not only their involvement, creativity but also their self-esteem feeling and being important member of the community. Their European identity would empowered, too, while collaborating with students abroad. Teachers would made lessons more interesting and share best practices with partner schools to achieve great collaborative results by using various Web 2 tools. Also, the project results would be accessible to anyone interested to get inspired or use them as they are. Schools also would come closer to families and the local community helping each other to reach their goals. The Schools European profile would be enriched, too.

Background

We noticed all schools had the same needs and this is the reason why we applied for this project. They were: -a clearer awareness of climate change and the means of energy saving, renewable sources, the 3Rs, endangered species -promoting responsible conducts in accordance with environment sustainability, heritage landscapes and cultural activities and developing individual initiatives to protect and preserve our environment -better acquaintance with their natural and cultural environment -development of appreciation and respect of any kind of diversity and needs, acceptance and inclusion -development of linguistic skills abilities in mother tongue and in English language -strengthening of logical, mathematical, digital, scientific skills -cultivation of European consciousness, awareness of the history, role, symbols and other features of the EU. We identified common needs regarding teachers/schools: promoting extraversion and European cooperation, development of competent design, management, implementation and dissemination of Erasmus+ and etwinning projects, enrichment of educational process with innovative methods, improvement of foreign language and digital skills, development of greener practices and attitude.
