In compliance with the objectives set by the EC Council Recommendation on Vocational Education and Training (2020), the project achieved the following objectives: With WP2-Digital Report managed: -to identify the existing knowledge and competence gaps of VET trainers related to apprenticeship mobilities in 3 EU rural areas. -to showcase the skills required to guide, support and motivate learners towards apprenticeships -to provide partners with useful insights that will help them develop the framework and content of the Digital Roadmap With WP3-Digital Roadmap managed: -to map the procedure that VET trainers need to follow, to support and motivate VET learners from the initiation to the completion of an apprenticeship -to equip VET trainers with knowledge and tools on how to immerse the apprentices in Work-Based Learning before the mobility -to shift towards a sustainable VET sector with digitized documents, procedures and curricula -to connect apprenticeships with labour market needs -to equip VET trainers with tools to build networks of cooperation that promote apprenticeships Transversal objective achieved: -to raise the visibility, adoption, impact, and sustainability of the project through targeted dissemination activities.
We applied for this project to address critical challenges faced by the VET sector exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the ETUC “Position Paper on renewing the European Alliance for Apprenticeship” (2020), the drop-out rates from apprenticeships have been considered the highest with the indicator of VET learners’ mobility abroad to average 8% urging the need to support VET trainers and centres to reintegrate them to VET and apprenticeship. Thus, our project focused on strengthening the professional development of VET trainers, enabling them to act as effective “mobility coaches.” This includes equipping trainers with skills to build networks with the business sector, familiarize learners with work-based learning, enhance their digital literacy, and improve linguistic and intercultural competencies. Moreover, the project addressed the need to encourage greater participation of women in VET and apprenticeships, contributing to gender equality. By addressing these needs, we aimed to ensure young people acquire the relevant skills to thrive in the labour market and support the green and digital transitions, aligning with EU recommendations for quality apprenticeships and labour market integration.
