The idea of the project This project wanted to achieve at the complete reconstruction, improvement, modernization, development, enrichment of the municipal library of Thermo, which has been under-functioning in recent years and deprives residents of free access to information, a necessary right of the 21st century. Then numerous meeting held in the context of the diffusion of European mobility programs and general opportunities for young people organized by our organization in the event hall of the Municipality of Thermo, The need to modernize and improve their municipal library was discussed by the young people themselves, which adorns a beautiful building in the center of the village. The lack of support funds for the library and the absence of permanent employees led to its under-operation, despite the daily demand for books, according to the presentation of an employee of the Municipality who is responsible for the use of the library. In the discussion we all concluded that public access to knowledge and information allows people to make informed decisions that can improve their lives. The communities that have access to timely and relevant information for all, is in a better position to eradicate poverty and improve agriculture, provide quality education and support health, culture, research and innovation. Especially in remote areas the need is urgent. The need for young people, the local community and partners In the meeting that was organized, the young people expressed their need for modernization and improvement of library, so that it is not only a place for them to find the necessary books, but also a shelter, discussion area, reading room. We managed to create according to every need that we have described: 1. The only bookstore in the area is not supplied literary books, resulting in young people wanting to get in touch with reading literary books, to be trapped in the village with their only way out is the school library which is very old and the most of her books damaged. 2. the need for modernization--> technological development of the librar through digital cataloguing 3. the need for a reading room. The library is not well designed so that young people can stay in it and read a book or the lessons of the day, although there is space and possibility configuration. 4. the need for a space for discussions, book presentations, film screenings and access to technological means promoting European participation and interaction, laying the foundations for democratic youth activation. Specifically, everyone, both the representatives of the Municipality, the residents and the young people recognized the need to improve the municipal library so that it ceased to be a obsolete borrowing concept of a book. They also expressed the need for knowledge exchange between young people from other countries living in rural areas, on how their libraries operate. Finally, the the need to work with other young people's networks to bring people together interconnection of urban and rural libraries through the creation of a Digital Human Library Project. So we ended up creating: Activity 1: An online transnational activity / meeting with a mixed group online and live form in which the foundations will be laid for the construction of a strategy for the improvement and general reconstruction of the library, acquiring the necessary know-how from our partners for the way they worked themselves, hence an exchange of good practice and how this strategy in the short term and in the long run will enhance youth participation. Activity 2: A campaign to promote the book, the strategic approach to improving primary school library, the operation of the Human Library Project and the creation of a toolkit.
