Objectives

“Youth Leaders by and for Youth with Disabilities,” recognized a pressing need for the inclusion and support of youth who are neither in employment nor in education or training (NEET), especially those with disabilities or from backgrounds with fewer opportunities. This demographic faced significant barriers in engaging in democratic life and accessing equal opportunities within the European context. A notable gap was identified in the provision of comprehensive training for young leaders aiming to advocate for disability acceptance and the support of NEET youth. Hence, the project aimed to equip youth leaders with both the specialized knowledge in these areas and the general leadership skills necessary for effective advocacy and transformative action. Objectives: Leadership and Open-Mindedness: The project aimed to develop a set of 10 guiding principles for Youth Leaders to promote open-mindedness and inclusivity, focusing on addressing the needs and rights of NEET youth and youth with special needs. Educational Workshops: Another objective was to design and implement 3 educational workshop plans for the general public. These workshops were intended to promote equality and support participants in advocating for these issues within their respective countries. Community Engagement: The project facilitated discussions within local communities about the situation of NEET youth and youth with special needs. Each national group of participants organized a discussion in their community to address these concerns. Strategic Document Creation: Lastly, the project aimed to create a strategic document outlining approaches towards the identification and educational programmes focused on challenges faced by NEET youth and youth with special needs. This document was intended to aid policymakers in understanding the nature of the community and the specific needs of these youth, ensuring more informed and effective decision-making processes.
