You Decide sought to foster a systematic conversation about youth engagement through three Youth engagement Events and one Youth Participation Mobility. These activities brought together youth delegates from various youth councils across the country, as well as decision-makers from municipalities, non-governmental organizations, and national-level ministers or legislators. With an expected 200-250 attendees, the events were intended to establish a collaborative environment in which young people aged 18-30 could connect with politicians, exchange their perspectives, and learn from one another. Key activities included lectures on EU youth policy, seminars delivered by youth councils and youth workers, and open agenda sessions where participants could network and express their concerns directly to decision-makers. This effort was closely associated with the European Union Youth Strategy 2019-2027, which focuses on engaging, connecting, and empowering young people to participate meaningfully in civic, economic, social, cultural, and political activities. By fostering youth conversation and defining 11 European Youth Goals, the strategy targets different cross-sectoral concerns that affect young people's lives and establishes thematic priorities for each 18-month period.Furthermore, You Decide aimed to support youth work, enhance visibility, and facilitate information sharing among youth. It provided a platform for young people and decision-makers to discuss issues of importance on an equal basis, hoping to inspire collaborative projects and the establishment of new youth councils. The project also served as a learning opportunity for young participants involved in planning and implementation, promoting active engagement in civic society and democratic life. The project's emphasis on diversity, particularly for young people with less options, was a key feature. The structured events aimed to guarantee that youth views were heard in European policymaking processes. This civic engagement, defined as active participation in community life to better the lives of others or determine the community's future, was critical to the project's success. The project also addressed the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting worldwide recession, which increased socioeconomic hardships for young people. The discourse and activities were consistent with adolescents Goal 9: Space and Participation for All, emphasizing the significance of providing opportunity for adolescents to engage with decision-makers.Moreover, one of the key activities was a seminar with 150 people, including 100 adolescents from various councils, 30 decision-makers, and 20 stakeholders including specialists and academics. The seminar included presentations on the role and capabilities of youth councils, as well as an analysis of ideas, hopes, and worries about Europe's future and young engagement. The seminar attempted to bridge the gap between young people and policymakers, ensuring that their opinions were heard in European policymaking. In addition, a study was done on the role of youth councils throughout the Union, focusing on their advising and advocacy duties. The study stressed the relevance of youth councils in establishing goals and assisting with policy implementation through public services. From 2011 to 2020, more than 290,000 young people participated in the EU Youth Dialogue, which intended to increase the visibility and participatory nature of youth councils.Another innovative aspect of the project was the Civic Youth Hackathon, a competitive event encouraging policymakers, entrepreneurs, and youth to use open data creatively. This hackathon aimed to foster transparency, support entrepreneurial initiatives, and engage young people directly in improving EU decision-making.You Decide aimed to facilitate structured interaction between youth and decision-makers, encouraging active engagement in democracy, by: -Supporting youth work and raise the profile of youth councils. -Offering learning opportunities to young people involved in planning and implementation. -Ensuring inclusion, especially for youth with limited possibilities. -Addressing the socioeconomic issues caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. -Bridging the gap between youth and policymakers. -Increasing the involvement of youth councils in policy development and implementation. -Cultivating innovative engagement through the Civic Youth Hackathon.
