Objectives

In line with the overall vision of our organisation, all the activities of the European Youth Parliament Greece (EYP Greece) aim to encourage young people to actively participate in politics and be present in the social arena. These objectives are achieved through non-formal learning activities, which offer students and young volunteers participating in our activities the opportunity to feel part of a European community and to exchange views in an open dialogue environment. Through the simulation of the European Parliament's processes in the framework of the project "Wind of Change: Youth Initiatives towards Environmental Consciousness", EYP Greece promoted active youth participation in decision-making and problem-solving on the spectrum of climate crisis and environmental protection, both at local and international level. Thus, participants of our activities developed cross-cutting skills such as communication, managing multicultural team dynamics, academic research and dialogue. Thanks to their participation in this project and the accompanying dissemination activities, participants have acquired and developed skills that they will use for the rest of their academic careers as well as in their professional lives in the future. Moreover, the representatives of our partner organisations, after participating in our projects, are better equipped to share the results and ideas we have collectively developed on ecological awareness and sustainability, thus strengthening our work and broadening its impact. In particular, under the project "Wind of Change: Youth Initiatives towards Environmental Consciousness", EYP Greece organised two National Selection Conferences (NSCs) in Thessaloniki and Athens, which gathered, in total, more than 140 volunteers from all over Europe and about 240 students from all over Greece, aiming at discussing key European issues and developing skills using the non-formal learning methods mentioned above. Organising the NSCs is a statutory commitment of our association and ensures the continuity of our work and the sustainability of our human resources, while enhancing the spread of our action to more and more regions, schools and students. Through activities such as these, young participants come into contact with a group of peers from a range of cultural and social backgrounds. By exchanging views, knowledge and experiences, the young participants broaden their intellectual horizons and their perception of our common European identity, which is the ultimate aim of the conferences we organise.
