Objectives

By implementing this project, we aimed to empower young people with ASD/DS by enhancing their self-expression, communication, and entrepreneurial skills through art. Our primary goals were to promote their social inclusion, combat mental health-related discrimination, and foster their active citizenship. We sought to achieve this by developing a comprehensive curriculum, an interactive e-learning platform, and a practical toolkit tailored to their needs. These outputs aimed to equip professionals with the methodologies and tools to support young people with ASD/DS and provide them with opportunities to share their artwork, stories, and perspectives with wider audiences. Ultimately, we strived to raise societal awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with ASD/DS, promote equity and respect, and create inclusive learning environments. Through this project, we envisioned building a supportive network where marginalized youth could become agents of social change and inspire broader societal transformation.

Background

We applied for this project to address the critical needs of young people with ASD/DS, who face marginalization, limited opportunities for self-expression, and social exclusion. The project aimed to empower this group by developing innovative tools and curricula to enhance their communication, self-expression, and entrepreneurial skills through art. The identified needs included a lack of tailored educational resources for professionals working with ASD/DS individuals, insufficient inclusive learning environments, and limited platforms for showcasing their creativity. By fostering equity, respect, and active citizenship, the project addressed mental health-related discrimination and strengthened their social inclusion. This project was designed to bridge these gaps through an interactive e-learning platform, a practical toolkit, and a comprehensive curriculum. These outputs aimed to provide professionals and young people with the tools to promote self-expression, raise awareness about social issues, and inspire societal change. Through this initiative, we sought to create a more inclusive and equitable society for young people with ASD/DS.
