Objectives

According to this context, we thought that it was more than necessary to develop a project to improve the level of digital competence of our teaching staff to implement new digital tools and resources during their teaching practice. This use of new technologies implies a new methodology and teaching-learning dynamics that boost students' motivation towards their learning process and a better level of digital competence and key competencies as they are able to use these digital tools in class. As a consequence, we also wanted to achieve a better school performance of our students. Our centre wants to be an organization that promotes the development of the active citizenship of its students,. Our objective is that they can participate in social, cultural, political and economic life using their right to democratic citizenship, encouraging, at the same time, inclusive and equal education, not only in the local area but also in an international one.

Background

We decided to create this project due to an increasing and unstoppable use of new technologies in the educational context and its unavoidable methodological impact during the teaching-learning process. This project was born as a consequence of the survey filled by the teaching staff according to the use of digital technology to achieve effective and inclusive learning. This initial diagnosis was evaluated using the European tool SELFIE based on three dimensions established by the European Framework of Digitally Competent Organizations. According to the results, more than 50% of the teaching staff only had a basic level of digital competence. Regarding students, 63% of them did not get an A2 level of digital competence .
