Objectives

By implementing this Erasmus project, our school hoped not only to improve the educational performance and future opportunities of our students, but also to contribute to a wider transformation in our community. By combining environmental education, technology training and a focus on inclusion, the project was designed to address the specific needs of our students and provide them with the necessary tools to face the challenges of the future proactively and with confidence. We aspired that the learning and good practices developed through the project would not only remain at the school level, but would also have an impact on the local community. By educating students about sustainability and new technologies, we hoped that they would become agents of change within their own families and communities, spreading the knowledge gained and fostering greater environmental and digital awareness in their immediate environment. We also hoped that the teachers involved would acquire new pedagogical methodologies and knowledge in technology and sustainability, which they could then transfer to the rest of the school's educational staff.

Background

Our school is classified as a difficult performing school, reflecting the specific complexities and challenges we face in our daily work. The student population is largely composed of students from families with a low socio-educational level and a high number of immigrants. These characteristics generate an environment in which many of our students find themselves in a vulnerable situation, with limited access to educational and technological resources. One of the main motivations for developing this project was the observation that, despite the growing urgency of the problem of climate change, our students, due to their socio-economic context, are relatively distant from this global issue. This results in low environmental awareness and low commitment to sustainability. The context of our Erasmus project and our organisation is marked by a combination of socio-economic and educational challenges that make this initiative an essential vehicle for change. By focusing on environmental care and new technologies, the project directly addressed the needs of our community.
