This project aims to offer our students the opportunity to use the foreign language in a meaningful context. Therefore, using English language will become part of their daily lives and our pupils will realize speaking English language and making an effort to improve has a lot of worth and it makes sense. However, this is not the only objective this project aims to achieve since it also promotes communication among students from the different countries through the regional traditions topic as a unifying thread. At the same time, the unifying thread also let students make connections and reflect on the differences among European inhabitants, but specially, all the elements common in the European heritage as well as those characteristics of their own countries.
Before launching the project, we prepared and ex-ante evaluation addressed to students. Its aim was to diagnose the school needs in context of students' motivation for English language. 40% of school students were doubtful about the meaning of English language learning and not engaged in English class. The results obtained from the SWOT analysis allowed us to choose priorities according to the objectives of our project. However, they showed interest in starting new activities where English language was used. Therefore, the school decided to start the project since it would be beneficial for our students' motivation and engagement in class and their results and improvement in English language too.
