Objectives

The objective was to change the mentalities of both students and teachers, in terms of ways of learning and teaching. The objective of the students was for them to realize that their level of English was not as low as they thought since the language of communication in the mobility project on INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE has been developed in English and the means of communication of the students has also been English. As for the teachers, the teacher training course has aimed to improve linguistic competence to give greater quality to their bilingual classes, as well as the “Job Shadowing” periods have been focused on observing other ways of teaching. English as a second language using different methodologies.

Background

Our SALESIANOS HERMANO GÁRATE school is a charter center that ranges from 3-year-old preschool education, Primary Education, Secondary Education and Baccalaureate as well as Basic Vocational Training and Intermediate and Higher Level Vocational Training Cycles. Our project INNOVATING BILINGUALISM is born from the need in the Secondary stage to promote the teaching of English since we are a bilingual center and in ESO subjects are taught in English for students in the bilingual branch but we are aware that we need to change methodologies that help us to enhance, above all, the oral competence of our students and put an end to the idea that “English is taught poorly.”
