The objectives to be achieved with this project were the following: Acquisition of the knowledge and entrepreneurial skills necessary to carry out business and social projects linked to their rural environment. To promote the image of the rural school as an innovative and quality public service. Knowledge of European regional development policies and European funds that can provide an opportunity for employment and professional success in the rural world. All these objectives are aimed at trying to reverse the serious problem of depopulation that conditions the social and economic development of the region. This is a problem that must be tackled from the local level to the European level, as we are facing a common problem in rural Europe. Finally, it is hoped that the objectives of this project will be exported to other rural regions of Europe, so that the economic, social and environmental potential of the villages will be highlighted, as well as the possibilities for their development based on European policies.
The Erasmus+ project on entrepreneurship in depopulated rural areas seeks to address the biggest challenge facing Europe's rural regions. The abandonment of these regions, which in its extreme case causes the phenomenon of depopulation to appear. The IES Aliste is a rural secondary school located in the Zamora region of Aliste. This region suffers one of the highest rates of depopulation and ageing in Europe. A reality that is reached when young people leave the region in search of better living conditions. With this project, led by the Department of Economy, the aim is to generate opportunities so that the young people of the region, in the future, can develop their professional life in the region of Aliste. In the same way, it is intended to have a present impact on the economic sector of the region, making known what has been learnt in the project. When trying to face a common challenge to other European regions, this project is considered relevant to start a line of Erasmus+ work that puts in value the potential of rural Europe.
