Objectives

Given the varied types of needs of the students at our school, the challenges we proposed were the following: - to IMPROVE INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY by strengthening the profiles of teachers, especially management and coordination bodies and diversity professionals. - to IMPROVE LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE by facilitating communication and linguistic and cultural exchanges between Europeans. - to INTRODUCE INNOVATIVE LEARNING METHODOLOGIES to fight against school dropouts, motivate students and teachers and prepare them to face challenges. - to IMPROVE DIGITAL EDUCATION (DIGITAL COMPETENCE) for students in an unfavorable situation. Promoting the responsible use of digital tools also concerns our educational work and therefore, we consider internationalization of our educational school to be essential through virtual cooperation, virtual mobility and combined mobility.

Background

Our school is located in a peripheral and marginal neighborhood of the city of Girona with 100,000 inhabitants, and serves students from ESO (12-16), Baccalaureate (16-18) and Vocational Training (from 16 years old). The majority of students come from a difficult family environment with few economic resources, some of them immigrants (mostly from Morocco and Honduras), and all of them with high specific demands for educational support (approximately 30% of ESO students). Despite the resources allocated to inclusion and attention to diversity, quality indicators indicate an increase in incidents in classrooms and an increase in demand for resources. We carry out specific programs to address diversity: SIEI (Intensive Inclusive Schooling Support), UEC (Shared Schooling Unit), Newcomers’ Classroom,Health and School Program; educational innovation projects related to sport, reading, School Library and entrepreneurship and cooperativism. We apply CLIL methodology in scientific subjects, the Baccalaureate Program, linguistic assistants and the Erasmus+ program.
