Objectives

At the beginning of this Project, all the members of the Erasmus+ Commission, together with the management team carry out a deep analysis DAFO from which we address the following objectives: 1. Design an interdisciplinary, innovative, integrative STEAM Project which facilitates the learning of science, technology, arts, engineering and mathematics from experience itself. 2. Encourage the digital literacy in our students. 3. Extend the European dimension of the school. In other words, with this project we want to develop as a school and improve the training of our teachers in order to design interdisciplinary, innovative and integrative STEAM projects, which facilitate learning from experience. This has been the starting point to encourage the digital literacy in our students, because one of our goals is to educate future European citizens who are competent with equality of opportunities.

Background

Our school is located in Cartagena (Murcia). We are a private and bilingual school. It is a Cambridge examination centre and we participate in linguistic immersions and interdisciplinary projects through eTwinning. We look for the application of a STEAM project in all the school levels and, therefore, we provide some specific subjects such as robotics or informatics. We have an Arts room and a studio where lessons on Vocational Training on Graphic Arts are carried out. We have open air classrooms and science laboratories. Regarding mathematics, we have just implemented OAOA methodology and a school supermarket. Our motivation to apply this project comes from an analysis and self-criticism which lead us to be aware of the fact that we need to improve our educational level. We would like to be a centre of reference centre on new learning methodologies focused on the development of the basic competences; above all, in those related to STEAM areas and the creation of digital contents.
